World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler has smashed Tiger Woods’ PGA Tour career earning record in 60 less tournaments.

Scheffler’s 22nd Tour success in Sunday’s concluding Tour Championship earned the Texan a $10m first prize payout and lifted his overall earnings to a whopping $US 130,390,661.

That’s $US 9, 391,495 than Woods earned in his record-equalling 82 touranment victory PGA Tour career.

Scheffler was a cut above his rivals posting a closing round of 66 to capture a third victory of the year by three shots at 16-under on the host East Lake course.

And Scheffler ended his season as it had begun, with a victory.

“I think that’s something I’m very proud of. I think when you look over the course of the season, and especially some of the tough starts — shooting over-par to start a tournament on the PGA TOUR is never a good spot to be in,” he said.

“I’m very proud of fighting back and having some good finishes and even giving myself some chances to win with some of those poor starts.

“Overall just continued to battle, like you said, day in and day out. It’s something that I’m very proud of. It’s a gift to be out here on TOUR. Each and every day I’m going to try to give it my best.

“This was a week which just brought a lot of good energy to the course and just tried to do my best”.
