Wyndham Championship Leaderboard Log-Jam Heading To Weekend – Twenty Within Four Shots Of Lead

It’s a golfing log-jam with 20 players within four shots of the lead heading to the closing two rounds of the Wyndham Championship.

American Beau Hossler leads the field by a shot at 12-under-par having posted scores of 61 and 67 on the host Sedgefield course in Greensboro, and as the current 122nd ranked Texas based player on the 2026 FedEx Cup standings seeks not only to capture a long overdue maiden Tour victory but also secure his card for the 2027 season.

Compatriot Ben James is lying tied second having signed for scores of 62 and 67 as the current 141st on the standings also looks to lock-in his card for the new season ahead.

England’s Jordan Smith, who shares second with James, has no such 2027 Tour status worries as he lied 62nd though the 33-year-old Someset player will sure love to add a maiden PGA Tour success to a pro career already boasting seven wins, two of them on the DP World Tour.

Only the top 70 in the season-long FedEx Cup standings will qualify for the first leg of the play-offs next week.

Hossler entered the week more or less needing a victory to vault from No. 122 into the top 70; his current projection, if results were to hold, is No. 53.

Hossler brushed off a bogey-bogey start at holes No. 10 and 11 by carding three birdies on the back nine and adding a pair at holes No. 5 and 9 coming in. The 11-foot putt he made at the par-four ninth broke him out of a tie with James and Smith during the afternoon.

“(I) was really happy with the way I kind of righted the ship and made a (birdie) on hole 12, which is a really challenging hole, which kind of moved the momentum back in my favour,” Hossler said.

“Kind of all day I felt like I was fighting it a little bit. To shoot three under par on a day like that was really, really good. Sometimes even more satisfying, frankly, than shooting really low.”
