Charley Hull In Shock Ommisson From Opening Round Of Curtis Cup.

In a big shock England’s Charley Hull, and the world’s leading women’s amateur, has been left out of the opening round of matches in the Curtis Cup.

The 16-year old Hull is the youngest of all 16 women competing at Nairn in Scotland.

And at Number Four in the world, Hull is also the highest ranked of any competitor in the biannual women’s amateur competition and the spearhead in the team’s effort to end a USA domination in having won the last seven Curtis Cup’s.

England's Chjarley Hull, the highest world ranked player in the Curtis Cup, but dropped from opening round of matches at Nairn.

GB & I team captain, Tegwen Matthews later remarked saying:“There’s no particular reason as everyone is playing particular well.

“I need fresh legs every round so the fact that Charley is not playing in the morning means absolute nothing.”

There had been much controversy earlier this year when Hull was dumped from the GB & I team training squad after accepting an invitation to compete in the first women’s Major Championship of the year.

But after Hull played all four rounds in California and finished in a share of 32nd place, she was admitted back into the GB & I squad.

The opening Foursomes matches in the 37th Curtis Cup are as follows:

Austin Ernst & Brooke Pancake (USA) v Kelly Tidy & Amy Boulden (GB & I)

Amy Anderson & Tiffany Lua (USA) v Holly Clyburn & Bronte Law (GB & I)

Lindy Duncan & Lisa McCloskey (USA) v Leona Maguire & Stephanie Meadow (GB & I)
