Breaking News: Reed Confirms He’s Quit LIV Golf To Compete Full-Time 2027 PGA Tour.

Patrick Reed has dropped what is a second golfing bombshell in as many months, advising he will join Brooks Koepka in quitting LIV Golf and return to the PGA Tour.

It was only four days ago Reed captured the Hero Dubai Desert Classic but also indicating during the week he had yet to rejoin LIV.

Little did we know the reigning LIV Golf Dallas champion was strongly thinking of turning his back on LIV and seeking to rejoin the PGA Tour full-time in 2027.

In doing so, Reed does not qualify under the rules of the PGA Tour’s Returning Member Program (RMP) which was only available to Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm and Aussie Cameron Smith, and also closes down on February 2nd.

“I am excited to announce that I am returning to the PGA Tour as a past champion member for the 2027 season and am eligible to begin competing in PGA Tour events later this year.

“I will continue to compete and play as an honorary lifetime member on the DP World Tour, which is something that I am truly honoured and excited to do.

“I’m a traditionalist at heart, and I was born to play on the PGA Tour, which is where my story began with my wife, Justine.

“I am very fortunate for the opportunities that have come my way and grateful for the life we have created.  I am moving forward in my career, and I look forward to competing on the PGA Tour and DP World Tour. I can’t wait to get back out there and revisit some of the best places on earth”.

Reed also thanked his fellow LIV Golf team-mates at 4AcesGC.

“I want to thank everyone involved in helping me make this decision. Over the last four years, I have learned a lot about myself, about who I am and who I am not, and for that I am forever grateful.

“To Dustin Johnson, The Aces , and LIV Golf, I want to thank you for the memories we shared and created together.

“To golf fans around the world, I just want to thank you all for your continued support over the years.  I just ask that you respect the decisions we have made for our family, our children, and our future. Thank you for your continued support.”

It is clear now that Reed was having ‘concerns’ in re-signing for the 2026 with LIV Golf and as he had hinted last week in Dubai, and while he’s competing this week in Bahrain, most thought his presence in four straight Middle East DP World Tour events would make it easy for him to travel onto Saudi Arabia next week for the opening event of the 2026 LIV Golf season.

That will now not be the case.
