Scotland’s David Law is no stranger to the highs and lows in travelling long distance to Australia as he’s done so for many years and highlighted by sensationally eagling the last hole of the 2019 co-sanctioned VIC Open to deny home favourite Wade Ormsby.
That was over 150 DP World Tour touranments ago with Law, and as determined he was, managing just one third place finish and five other top-10s.
To his enormous credit the Scot in the immediate five years since his win retained full DP World Tour (DPWT) status until the end of the 2024 season when a a 119th Race to Dubai money list standing saw the affable Scot forfeit his Tour card.
Last year was simply a year of disappointment and recalling here Law teed-up a year ag in Brisbane, and the BMW PGA Championship also being the first event of the 2025 DPWT season but he was forced out of the weekend rounds.
The Paul Lawrie Golf attached Scot could have spent this past year waiting on invitations or withdrawals to play on the DPWT but ‘No’, as he bravely took his medicine and elected to contest the secondary HotelPlanner Tour and ‘boy’ did it pay off for the 34-year-old winning twice and posting a pair of seconds.

Indeed, Law went so close to ending the HotelPlanner Tour year as No. 1 ahead still proudly settling for second.
Nonetheless, second among the top-20 who earned full 2026 DPWT status was mission accomplished for the Scot.
“I was disappointed at the end of last season to have lost my card but at the sime time, I was really encouraged by how motivated I was to get back and that was amazing for me because you can’t fake those things,” he said.
“That’s something inside you that thinks you’ve got a bit more to give and I certainly thought that and it inspired my to compete out here and have a good year.
“It’s important that you spend time with the right people, as well.”
And he has done before, Law has made his way ‘Down Under’ and this two weeks more than ever you can be assured there will be real confidence boost inside the ropes this coming fortnight and as well when he journeys in three week’s to tee-up in the Mauritius.
“I know how important these weeks will be”, he said.
“The better seasons I’ve had have started off really well, so I know how important it is to start well.”
Joining Law will be fellow HotelPlanner graduate and fellow Scot Daniel Young, who on the eve of the event has been confirmed as now being managed by Bounce Sports, who look after Robert MacIntyre.
Also in the field is a third Scot in Cameron Adam who is making his professional debut in the Sunshine State.
Like Law, Adam is also under the wings of Paul Lawrie Golf and was proudly wearing a shirt this week sporting both the management company logo and that of his beloved Royal Burgess club
The left-handed Scot secured his playing rights for the 2026 campaign by topping the Global Amateur Pathway, one of several highlights in a memorable 2025 that has also seen him compete in The Open and represent Great Britain and Ireland in the Walker Cup.
The 2023 Scottish Men’s Amateur Champion – who enjoyed a glittering college career at Northwestern University – has not played competitively since early October, further heightening his sense of anticipation as he prepares for the start of a double header Down Under in Brisbane.
Adam takes his place in a field featuring a host of international stars, including Major Champions, PGA TOUR winners and established DP World Tour regulars.
“I’m buzzing,” he told the DP World Tour, shortly after a practice round with Australia’s Min Woo Lee.
“It felt like it has been a long time coming. I’ve had a good few months away from competitive golf so to be back on a stage with guys that I have grown up watching is pretty cool.”
