Meronk Welcomes New Cleeks Teammate & First Frenchman To Join LIV

Adrian Meronk has warmly welcomed new LIV Golf Cleeks team-mate Victor Perez.

It was announced earlier this week Frenchman Perez has quit the PGA Tour and signed with LIV Golf, and becoming a member of the Martin Kaymer Cleek team also includes England’s Richard Bland and Meronk.

Perez creates a small slice of LIV Golf history in becoming the first French-born to join the league.

And among the first to officially welcome Perez is his Cleeks club teammate.

“Yeah, I think it’s a good signing,” said Meronk after posting a brilliant nine-under 62 to share the lead with American Caleb Surratt who had enjoyed the lead early on before being join atop of the boad at the Riyadh Golf Club.

“I’ve known Victor for a long time. Played college golf, junior golf, then Challenge and European Tour.

“Yeah, he’s a great player, very steady. I think that’s who we need on our team. I think it’s going to be a good addition to our team, and I’m looking forward to meeting him again”.

The 33-year-old Perez won three times on the DP World Tour including the opening event of the 2023 season – Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

The win, along with three other top-10s that season was good enough to secure the Frenchman one of 10 PGA Tour cards in finishing the year 6th on the DP World Tour money list.

However Perez’s move to the PGA Tour did not progress as he would have hoped commencing his new career ranked No. 88 in the world but missing the cut in his opening two events of his rookie 2024 season ahead of a high of a pair of thirds, including the Canadian Open on his way to ending the year 83rd on the PGA Tour money-list.

Season 2025 was a bitter mix of 17 tournaments but eight missed cuts, with just one top-10 and that being T9th at the Canadian Open.  Perez ended his 2025 PGA year last Friday missing the halfway cut in Butterfield Bermuda Championship and the season ranked 109th on the money list that was nine places shy of retaining full 2026 PGA Tour status.

Just a handful of days later news broke Perez had signed with LIV Golf.
