European Ryder Cup Captain Luke Donald could not be happier with so many of his likely 2025 Ryder Cup defending team continue to impress just over two weeks out from Donald’s official confirmation of his 12-man Bethpage Park team.
Donald will announce his team on Monday 1st September and with already many of his Rome victorious side having aleady secured their place for this year’s defence of the gleaming trophy in New York State.
The present top-6 European Team qualifiers were each members of Donald’s winning 2023 team:
And in heading to the weekend rounds of the BMW Championship on the PGA Tour and also the Danish Chamionship on the DP World Tour there is five others making an impression headed by top-ranked Scot Robefrt MacIntyre who gleaned two-and-a-half points from his three Rome matches.
MacIntyre – See story http://www.golfbytourmiss.com/2025/08/top-scot-continues-to-sizzle-leaving-scheffler-in-bmw-shade-words-facts-figures/ continues to cement a hopeful third PGA Tour success with scores of 62 and 64 to lead by an impressive five shots into the weekend rounds of the BMW Championship.
Swede Ludwig Aberg, who like MacIntyre was a rookie in Rome, is lying third at eight under while Rory McIlroy is currently in 11th place at four-under and was asked his thoughts on the make-up of the European Team and mentioned in his response England’s Harry Hall, sharing eighth place at five-under and currently 19th on the Ryder Cup rankings.
“Yeah, it is. It’s good”m said McIlroy,
“It’s good to see Bob, Ludvig, Viktor, Tommy, even Harry Hall that’s maybe got a chance to play in the team. Yeah, it bodes well for a few weeks’ time”.
Q. Do you know much about Harry?
RORY McILROY: Yeah, I played with Harry in his first start as a pro at the Dunhill Links a few years ago. I know him a little bit. Really nice player, great rhythm to his golf swing, and he’s sort of done it a different way. He went over to UNLV and did it that way. But he’s become a very consistent player, so we’ll see what happens.
Anyway, all will be revealed on Monday 1st September.
