It had been remarkably a 19-year wait since Ian Poulter’s last appearance in a Dunhill Links tournament.
Poulter teed-up on the famed Old Course and making ammends for a fourth hole bogey with a birdie at the ninth. The now 50-year old got himself back into the red at one-under with a birdie on 14 and just as the later afternoon wind was beginning to make it’s presence felt.
However the 17-time Tour winning Englishman three-putted the 17th to drop back to level par before just missing a birdie chance on 18 for a round of a level par 72.
Then after signing his scorecard Poults, and as he has always obliged in his career, delighted in signing autographs for fans.
ENDING HIS FIRST @dunhilllinks ROUND IN 19 YEARS …
While disappointed to 3-putt 17 & miss a birdie putt at the last, Poults @IanJamesPoulter @MajesticksGC #LIVGolf posts level par 72 day one @TheHomeofGolf
