In a bitterly disappointing scenario Sergia Garcia failed to qualify for next fortnight’s Open Championship after suffering upset stomach symptons he says from eating lasange at lunch and the halfway mark of his round at the West Lancashire Golf Club.
Garcia was amoung 72 players competing at the one of four host courses and each course offering five places into the Open Championship
After posting a very respectable and contending 68 opening round, the super Spaniard headed off for a quick lunch ahead of taking his place for the afternoon 18 holes.
However Garcia quickly was not feeling well struggling in posting a 75 and end at one-under for a distant share of 30th place.

“I had a little bit of food there in the players’ lounge and it did not sit well with me”, said Garcia.
“I only ate a lasagna. I thought maybe have a little pasta and stuff, but for some reason it didn’t sit well with me and I just felt nauseous the whole front nine.
“In the afternoon, I felt like I was going to vomit pretty much on every hole.
“I also thought about stopping after nine. But I thought, ‘Well, let’s play a couple more and see if I get something going,’ but unfortunately it didn’t happen.”
Disappointing indeed for Garcia with the now 46-year-old having made his Open Championship debut in 1996 and having contested 25 Open Championships, featuring a best result of runner-up in 2007.
