Sadly but it’s no real surprise as Tiger Woods has not entered the field for this year’s 154th Open Championship at Royal Birkdale.
It means the 15-time Major Champion and three-time Open Champion last contested a major championship at the 2024 Open Championship in missing the halfway at Royal Troon.
As well, Woods will not be present for the 20-year anniversary of his 2006 Open victory at Royal Liverpool – his 11th major victory, and what was one of the more emotional moments in his illustrious career.
This news that Woods is not to tee-up at Royal Birkdale in July comes not as a surpise given Woods’ onging health situations and his decision to return to Switzerland as part of his rehabilitation.
DISAPPOINTING BUT NO SURPRISE TIGER NEWS ….
As @TigerWoods has NOT entered field for July’s 1⃣5⃣4⃣th @TheOpen @royalbirkdale
It will be two years since ‘TW’ last teed-up in a @PGATOUR sanctioned event
