MacIntyre Reveals His Delight For An Acai Bowl Mixed With A Bit Of Sweetness.

Bob MacIntyre certainly had this journalist guessing when the champion Scot disclosed soon after opening-up a four-shot lead through two rounds of the Valero Texas Open that he and his caddy were heading into close-by SanAntonio to a Mexican meal as well as savouring an Acai Bowl ‘mixed with a bit of sweetness in there, as well’.

The ‘sweetness in there’ MacIntyre was referring is Nutella and famed sweetened hazelnut cocoa spread.

MacIntyre had been leading by two shots heading to Friday’s final hole at TPC San Antonio but walked off to be in front by four after playing partner Ludwig Aberg bogeyed the par-5 challenge and MacIntyre birdied the last in a very impressive eight-under 64.

MacIntyre was quizzed, in part, if the effort would see him head off for a local barbecue evening meal, given he’s been prone to enjoy the odd barbecue.

MacIntyre responded smiling: “I’ve not had any so far. We’ve had some

Mexican because it’s a good area for Mexican food.

“We’ve been given certain places to visit and it’s been really good. I like my food, as you can tell (smiling).

“We’ll go from here now, go and change shoes andstuff, and we’ll go for a Acai bowl this afternoon. Me and my caddy love them. There’s a little sweetness in there, as well with Nutella.“

Still guessing also like me what is an Acai bowl?

We all know Nutella though I got onto Wikipedia to learn an Acai bowl is Brazilian in origin made with the frozen and mashed fruit of the açaí palm, described as having an “earthy” or creamy taste. Its texture is granular before blending and it has a tartness from its acidity, creating a favourable taste.

It is served as a smoothie in a bowl, sometimes mixed with guarana syrup or other sweeteners, and commonly topped with granola and banana or, in MacIntyre’s favoured case, Nutella.

It’s naturally vegan, gluten-free (depending on toppings), and packed with antioxidants (from the anthocyanins in açaí), fibre, and healthy fats.

It varies from a smoothie that is usually sipped through a straw and thinner. An Açaí bowl is intentionally very thick (almost sorbet-like) so you eat it with a spoon, and the toppings add crunch, creaminess, and visual appeal.

Wonder how long before one of MacIntyre’s sponsors, the Taymouth Castle Golf Club will be serving a ‘MacIntyre Acai Bowl topped with Nutella’.
