Tommy Fleetwood was again in meltdown mode posting a sizzling 6-under 64 in seizing a four shot lead heading to the weekend rounds of the St. Jude Championship as the Englishman continues to strive for a maiden PGA Tour title.
Fleetwood birdied three in succession from the second hole and then four birdies in a row from the 13th before a closing hole bogey, moving to 13-under before the threat of lightning forced officials to half play for the day on the host TPC Southwind course.
The stoppage meant 21 players in the 69 player field still need to conplete their second rounds includinghis fellow Englishman Justin Rose who has still two holes to play, sharing second at 16-under.
“It hasn’t happened for me yet out on the PGA Tour, but I would much rather be up there and not quite get it done than not there at all,” Fleetwood said. “And who knows? Maybe this weekend is the weekend and we’ll see, and we’ll crack on from there.”

Fleetwood finished with four straight birdies on Thursday. He made three in a row early, including a 30-footer from the fringe on the par-3 fourth hole at the TPC Southwind. He also had a pair of key par saves around the turn before going on another run.
