Aussie Min Woo Lee made it two wins in his last four starts with victory in the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship in Brisbane.
Lee was in a class of his own over the weekend rounds and posting a closing three-under 68 to win by three shots at 20-under from Japan’s Rikuya Hishino on the host Royal Queensland course in the Queensland capital.
Lee, 25, collected a third DP World Tour success, a third win on three different continents, a second success on home soil and the a second win in six weeks since capturing a maiden Asian Tour title at the Macau Open.
“Yeah, unbelievable,” said Lee, who wins a year after fellow Aussie Cam Smith collected a third Joe Kirkwood trophy.
“I’ve always thought I could win, but it took a while to get over the hump, but two wins in the last month or so. Yeah, I’m really proud of my team and myself and yeah, I made it interesting early on and through the middle, but ended up hanging on, so I’m really proud.
“I know Rikuya (Hoshino) is a really good player and he kept knocking on the door, but it was the exactly same as my last win, just the playing point. I just kept coming, so I knew I just needed to keep playing well and do my thing and I did. Yeah, I’m really proud of the way I made some up and downs and some putts.”
The Perth-born Lee sensationally capped his round with a chip-in eagle ‘3’ at the ninth hole while he further endeared himself to fans at the ‘Party Hole’, the par-3 17th when he donned a paper chefs cap and the fans clapping loudly ahead of a bogey at the last, though still good enough for the win.

And as reported by GolfByTourMiss it’s a fourth win for Min Woo and his sister Minji in just over a month. Min Woo captured the Macau Open in late October while his double major-winning sister won the LPGA Tour in South Korea, and then earlier in the week of the Australian PGA Minjee collected a third Greg Norman medal for the standout Australian-born golfer of 2023.
Between the two, the Lee’s have now won 17 tour titles – Minji 13, including two majors, and her ‘baby’ brother 4.
“It’s funny, because every time I win it seems like next week she wins, so if you guys want to put some money on my sister winning next week, you’ll probably win,” said Min Woo smiling.
“It’s cool. If I win next week or she doesn’t win, it will be nice to have that for the Christmas and for the New Year’s break, have it for a few weeks, that will be nice. But I’m obviously trying to be as good as I can and she’s one of a kind. She’s a really great golfer and she’s not slowing down. She knows she slowed down early in the year but she’s found a way to win again, which was near career ending kind of putter yips and now she’s slowly overcoming that.
“It’s pretty special to see that hard work really happens. That’s not a secret to anyone, she’s always worked hard and hopefully I can
follow in her footsteps and keep winning tournaments”.
