Woods Packs Plenty Of Positives After Opening Event Of New Season.

Torrey Pines, California …..

Tiger Woods will head to a fortnight break with a lot of positives after posting a closing round 67 at the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines,

Woods, and as he had done a day earlier, finished birdie-birdie to end his first touranment of 2019 as promised in ‘double-digits’ at 10-under par.

The 14-time Major winner was level par after a birdie and bogey over his outward nine but then stormed home over his inward half, and the actual front nine on the scorecard, to pick-up birdies at his 11th, 12th, 14th, 17th and then after finding the green at the par-5 ninth hole in two, Woods two-putted for birdie from 37-feet behind the flag.

“It was good to finish in double-digits as I was talking about yesterday, so it felt good,” he said.

“That was the goal starting out the day, and after three-putting there at 6, wasn’t ideal. I still had one par 5 left, but I had a birdie at 8, birdied 9, so the goal was to shoot something that got me into double digits and I did.

“I’m very proud of that. Got to have these little goals when I’m not in contention to win a tournament, but still something positive to end the weekend and the week on.

“I feel like I knocked some rust off, which was great this week.  Figured a few things out as the week was going along. I just felt like I got better each and every day. I got cleaner, my rounds got cleaner and that’s what I want to have happen. I’ll be ready in a couple weeks.”

Woods will next tee-up in the Febuary 14th commencing Genesis Open at Riviera in suburban Los Angeles.
