Legendary Jack Nicklaus has spoken with Tiger Woods and expressed a sadness that has become a puzzle of uncertainty surrounding Woods return to competition.

Indeed ‘The Golden Bear’ reckons in talking to the 14-time Major Champion Woods also doesn’t know when and if he will return.

Nicklaus said:  “It’s just a puzzle at the moment as we don’t know whether Tiger can both mentally and physically make it work together in getting back to golf.

“In speaking with him I don’t really know and I’m not sure if Tiger knows.

“It’s just sad to me as he’s such a great talent. He’s a good kid and he has so much ability and I’m just sad to see it happen to him.  I hope he gets it corrected.”

Woods has played just three Tour competition rounds since last month in ending a 17-month lay-off after multiple surgery on his troublesome back.

He withdrew from recent Dubai Desert Classic following a horror first round 77 and later complaining of back spasms.
