Laird Celebrating 10th Pro Season Soaring With Second Straight Eagle On 10th Hole.

La Quinta Resort, CA …

Martin Laird continued to celebrate heading into his 10th pro career season by holing his second shot at the 10th hole for a second day running at the Career Builder Challenge at La Quita in California.

Laird delighted in starting his second day by holing a 133-yard wedge second shot for eagle ‘2’ at the 10th hole of the Stadium Course in an eventual second straight 67 and move to 10-under par in the £STG 4.7m event.

A day earlier, Laird holed out from 102-yards for an eagle ‘2’ on the adjoining Nicklaus course and one of three host venues this week.

“It was a nice way to start my round and especially on top of eagling the 10th on the Nicklaus course yesterday,” he said.

Martin Laird eagles a 10th hole for a second day running and in his first event of a 10th year in the pro ranks.

“It didn’t change anything in how I was going to treat the rest of the round but clearly to be two under par after just one hole is always going to help.”

The goal for the current World No. 150th ranked Laird is a third PGA Tour win after last tasting success in denying Rory McIlroy victory at the 2013 Valero Texas Open, and a result that handed the Scot the last invitation into the following week’s Masters.

“I’m coming off a decent break over the Christmas period but I’m now looking forward to getting back to work, so I’ve been looking forward to get going,” he said.

“I’ve been practicing at home for a month since coming here to La Quinta, so it’s nice now to get a scorecard back into the pocket.

“Everything in the bag is pretty much the same as last year with just the one change and that is take out my 3-iron and replace it with an extra wedge, a gap-wedge.

“I did this as there was a 20-yard gap between my 9-iron and pitching wedge, so that should take care of that and with my gaps between my irons down to about just 12 yards which is nice.”
