Top-ranked England golfer Justin Rose got the engine warm for this week’s WGC – Cadillac Championship in teaming with former Deutsche Bank CEO Seth Waugh to post a combined 63 and win today’s Seminole Pro-Member at the exclusive Donald Ross designed Seminole Club in Florida.
The duo, as reported by good friend Rex Hoggard, were out on the very last group of the day and with Rose picking up 10 birdies through 17 holes but then dropping a shot at the last for a two-stroke victory in the gross division over fellow England-born Luke Donald who partnered Eric Gleacher.
World No. 2 Jason Day and Graeme McDowell, who only just managed to qualify for this week’s WGC with a fifth place finish in the Honda Classic, were among eight teams tied in third place with combined 66s, while Rory McIlroy and Rickie Fowler tied for 20th after 68s.
A day after winning the Honda Classic, Adam Scott tied for 39th place after teaming with Stan Druckenmiller for a 70.
P.H. Horgan III teamed with Jack Grace to win the net division with a 62.
