One Direction’s lead singer Niall Horan was a smash hit caddying today for Rory McIlroy in the annual Par 3 Contest here at Augusta National.
McIlroy wound down in his goal for a career Grand Slam with Horan decked out in the Augusta National overalls as his caddy.
Horan was asked afterwards about the enthusiastic reception he received.
“There’s not 60,000 screaming girls here,” he said.
McIlroy admitted: “The deal was that if I make him hit a shot out there I’m going to have to get up on stage and sing with him at some point.”
But then the World No. 1 got his Par 3 Contest campaign off to an indifferent start when hooked a tee shot into the water.
“I apologize to golf,” Horan joked.
“I do perform to a lot of people but we were performing to their parents today! There was a lot of pressure.”
