After five years the Irish Open will have a new title sponsor for the 2015 event commencing on May 28th at Royal County Down.
A European Tour source hinted the new sponsor is a well-known Ireland ‘name brand’ and will be officially unveiled this Friday.
It will be the first occasion in five years since communications giant ‘3’ sponsored the event from 2008-10 that Ireland’s premier golfing event will have an official main sponsor.
This ‘name brand’ will sponsor the event for one year and with the option of continuing for future years.
Of course, Carrolls sponsored the Irish Open from 1975-93 before Murphy’s backed the event from 1994-2006 while Nissan took up sponsorship from 2003-06.
