Christmas continues to come early for triple Major winning Padraig Harrington.
After being afforded an invitation to contest the PGA Tour’s 2015 Waste Management Phoenix Open and he’s received a similar call up to compete in February’s Farmers Insurance Open being staged from Feb. 5-8 at Torrey Pines in La Jolla, Calif.
The current World No. 264th ranked Harrington has not contested the event, formerly known as the Northern Trust Open, since finishing T44th in 2012.
And when the 2008 US Open was held at La Jolla Harrington shared 38th place.
Harrington has had to rely on invitations following a disappointing 2014 season when he lost full playing rights in finishing the year in a lowly 188th on the money list.
He had contested 16 PGA Tour counting events in 2014 but missed the cut in nine including three of the last four tournaments.
But while Harrington’s 2015 playing schedule may still be up in the air his popularity on the PGA Tour can certainly be assured of further invitations in the weeks ahead.
