Jason Day Determined To Add Franklin Templeton Shootout Success To Team Victory CV.

Australia’s Jason Day is determined to add victory in the Franklin Templeton Shootout to last year’s success in the World Cup of Golf.

Day and American partner Cameron Tringale, or as Day affectionately refers to him as ‘Triangle’, remain atop of the leader board in the $US 3.1m event and moving to 25-under par in the Greg Norman hosted event at the Tiburon course in suburban Naples, Florida.

The duo added a ‘Greensomes’ eight under par 63 to their tournament record-setting first day 55 to move to 25-under par and three clear of the pairing of Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell and American Gary Woodland.

A year ago Day combined with fellow Australian and reigning Masters champion Adam Scott at Royal Melbourne to capture the World Cup of Golf, and with Day sealing ‘Individual’ low scoring honours.

And after the disappointment of being the losing Presidents Cup International Team a few months earlier, the win in Australia was Day’s first taste of team success in the pro ranks.

“It would be fantastic if Cameron and I could win tomorrow because to win with Adam as my partner last year down in ‘Oz’ was one of the greatest memories I will have in my career,” he said.

“Golf if a very individual sport and we can be quite selfish with our time and that’s only because we are all striving to get better, so you need to be selfish.

“But the way Cameron and I have been playing this week it would mean an awful lot to capture another team event on top of winning the World Cup.

“So I am going to try as hard as I can to help the team tomorrow, and I know Cameron will do the same because I want to win this event and so does Cameron.

“It’s also a different sort of feeling playing with a partner because I don’t want to let him down.  I want to make sure I can do all I can so that we win this event so I will be committing myself 100% to that cause.”
