The UAE’s Sport 360 daily newspaper was spot on with it’s headline in today’s edition in reporting on Pablo Larrazbal’s stunning success in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship.
The four word headline – Pablo Makes Them Pay – aptly described how first Rory McIlroy and then fellow Major Champion Phil Mickelson were left counting the costs of seeing victory slip through their fingers.
First there was McIlroy incurring a two-stroke penalty on day three of the event and in the end losing by a shot for a second occasion in three years.
Then on the final day Mickelson had to call a one-stroke penalty on himself in playing a right-handed shot from under a bush at the 13th hole that saw the reigning Open Champion finished tied with McIlroy.
In the final wash-up it was the 30-year old Barcelona-born Larrazabal making both of them pay for their errors to earn a third Tour title.
Here’s how the leading UAE newspapers reported on Larrazabal’s success.
