Double Major winning John Daly led his team of football greats to success in the Masters Pro-Am.
Daly’s team of the Scotland legends Gordon Strachan, who is the present Scotland Team captain, and Andy Gray along with Welsh Team manager Chris Coleman won in a count back from the lead by Spain’s Alvaro Quiros after both ended on 24-under par.
The ever-popular 47-year old American was representing the Al Jazeera team and Quiros the Apollo Young Guns.
European Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley presented the prizes at a lavish gala dinner held within the splendid St. Regis Hotel Doha, the tournament’s official hotel to the leading teams including England’s Luke Donald whose team was fourth.
McGinley’s Byrne Team 1 had been placed 17th with a 16-under par score while the back-to-back Open Championship winning duo of Ernie Els and Darren Clarke shared last place on 10-under par.
