New French Open champion Graeme McDowell has jumped three spots to No. 6 in the world following his command performance on the Le National course on the outskirts of Versailles.
McDowell captured his third event this season and just moments before Andy Murray became the first British-born male in 77 years to win Wimbledon.
He defeated South African by four shots a week after missing the cut in the Irish Open for his third victory in seven events. He is now just one win this year behind World No. 1 Tiger Woods who has captured four events in 10 starts this season.

McDowell strolled to a four stroke success on the 2018 Ryder Cup host venue and with the Euro 500,000 first prze cheque sending the 33-year old through the Euro 15m barrier in European Tour winnings alone.
And now after moving to No. 6 McDowell is just two spots away from a career high of No. 4 he achieved in March 2011.
The Northern Irishman will spend this coming week working on his game at his beloved Royal Portrush before crossing the Irish Sea later in the week and his first look at Muirfield and venue for next week’s Open Championship.
McDowell has never played Muirfield and a course where he unsuccessfully sought to qualify for his very first Major in 2002.
However the player who missed out 11 years ago is a vastly different in 2013 and with McDowell now sporting a dozen victories since turning pro in 2002.
The top-10 in the world are now:-
1. Tiger Woods
2. Rory McIlroy
3. Justin Rose
4. Adam Scott
5. Matt Kuchar
6. Graeme McDowell
7. Brandt Snedeker
8. Phil Mickelson
9. Luke Donald
10. Louis Oosthuizen
