Woods Sets Himself Up Form Major Victory Number 15.

In five of six times when Tiger Woods has won the first event of a new PGA season, as he did in capturing the Farmers Insurance Open, he’s gone on to win a Major.

Of course, the current World No. 2 had missed the cut a week earlier in the European Tour’s Abu Dhabi HSBC Championshipi, but bounced back in a manner we are so accustomed.

And it was at Torrey Pines when Woods last tasted a Major victory in winning the 2008 U.S. Open for his 14th Major victory.

“Winning at the start of a season does give me confidence, absolutely,” he said.

“But as far as the other stuff you just said, as I said, I’m excited about this year. I’m excited about what I’m doing with Sean and some of the things that I’ve built. This is a nice way to start the year.

“All I am trying to do is shoot the lowest score I possibly can. I don’t know if I look calm or intense or relaxed or jovial, whatever it is. I’m trying to beat everyone in this field, and that hasn’t changed and it won’t change.

“That’s the mentality I have.

“I just went out there with the same thing I do every tournament is to win the thing. This week was nice to be able to get the W again.”
