Tanks Spotted In Durban.

One could not help noticing last week in Durban a display of former tanks across the road from last week’s Volvo Champions event at the Durban Country Club course.

Among the tanks on display was an American built M4 Sherman tank.

The M4 was the most widely used tank series in the war, being employed not only by the U.S. Army and Marine Corps but also by British, Canadian, and Free French forces. The M4 was employed in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, and western Europe and throughout the Pacific theatre. A total of 49,324 Sherman tanks were produced in 11 plants between 1942 and 1946.

Hereunder is a selection of photographs of the tanks on display in Durban.
