If you thought the Ryder Cup had become a huge beast in terms of corporate, spectator and media interest then you should be here in Abu Dhabi for the expected 2014 European  Team captaincy decision.

In years past a handful of media would gather outside the committee room awaiting word on the new appointment.

Not any more as that’s now a thing of the past.

While the committee vote within a cordoned off area of the stunning St. Regis Hotel here in the UAE capital the media have been accommodated in a ballroom also in the hotel.

Those on the committee were treated to a hot food and sweets buffet placed outside the room where there in is a long oblong table for the dozen committee members along senior Tour staff, George O’Grady who has been involved with meetings over the announcement for much of the day.
