The staging of the Ryder Cup at Gleneagles in 2014 has seen the cancellation of the European Tour’s Johnnie Walker Championship on the PGA Centenary.
The Johnnie Walker Championship, and previously known at the Scottish PGA and the Diego Championship, has been on the Race to Dubai schedule since 1999 when Englishman Warren Bennett captured the inaugural title.

But as Tournament Chairman, Colin Montgomerie hinted on Thursday night, the event will now not take place in 2014 in order to preserve the PGA Centenary course for the Ryder Cup.
Monty and tournament officials met with the European Tour about rescheduling the event but were unable to come up with an alternative so the event will not be staged in two years time.
Tournament Director, Graeme Marchbank said: “With regret we have accepted that we have no option but to postpone the Johnnie Walker Championship for a year.
“Over the next two years we will be focusing all of our efforts on the goal of delivering the best possible Ryder Cup in 2014.”
