Young 11-year old golf fan, Charlie Line has an item that will be the envy not only of his school friends but the golfing world in general.
McIlroy not only presented young Charlie with his Jumeriah Hotels and Resorts cap but he also happily autographed the cap.
It meant that when McIlroy conducted a few interviews well after his formal press conference, including one of CNN he did not have his cap to wear.
The World No. 1 had woren the cap to birdie his closing five holes and capture the season-ending DP World Tour Championship, Dubai and collect his fifth victory of the season.
And while young Charlie Line from West Sussex in England might not be aware of this but the cap he walked away proudly wearing will become a collector’s item given in coming week’s Nike is set to annouce they have signed McIlroy to a reputed $200m deal.
It is also expected Nike will have bought out most of McIlroy’s contracts so that the double Major winner tees up next January in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship with simply the Nike swoosh showing on his attire.
So young Charlie hold onto that cap because in a few years time when McIlroy has added many more Majors to his CV the autographed cap he presented to you this afternoon could be worth a good few dollars.
