There was no doubting the fondness between Rory McIlroy and girlfriend, Caroline Wozniacki following the opening round of the season-ending DP World Tour Championship Dubai.
McIlroy was invited the the Media Centre after posting a first round five under par 67 that left him trailing just one shot behind World No. 2 Luke Donald.

However after a series of questions regarding his round there was a series of questions from an unusual source – girlfriend and World No. 10, Caroline Wozniacki.
She said: “You have unbelievable support this week and if you win, am I going to get a really nice Christmas present, and what am I going to get?”
McIlroy responded smiling: “That’s great. I’ve got my parents here and have you not already got a lot of nice present?
Wozniacki persisted: “But Christmas is coming up, so?”
McIlroy replied: “I have been looking. I have been looking. But it won’t take winning this week to buy you a nice present because I will get you a nice present anyway.”
Wozniacki: “Well, that must be because I’m unbelievable cheerleader.”
McIlroy: “You’re a better tennis player.”
Wozniacki responded saying: “That’s not nice” and with McIlroy saying: “No, it is. Anything else?”
The conference wound up with McIlroy jumping into a golf cart for the short trip back to the clubhouse and Wozniacki sitting on his lap.
It’s not the first occasion Wozniacki has taken the part of a reporter. At last year’s Wimbledon championships she grabbed the microphone to interview Novak Djovokic.
