And there was no one more deserving of an invitation than Broberg who matched somewhat the efforts of World No. 1 Rory McIlroy.
The 26-year old Haninge Golf Club attached Swede played in just five secondary Challenge Tour events this and stunned everyone by winning three.
Broberg commenced his Challenge Tour campaign with a ninth in the Allianze Open Cotes d’Armour Bretagne, and then back-to-back victories in the Finnish Challenge and Norwegian Challenge events.
He was then tihrd in the Thomas Bjorn hosted ECCO Tour Championship before sealing the Euro 24,400 first prize for victory a week later in the Rolex Trophy.
The effort in winning three events immediately guaranteed Broberg his 2013 European Tour card.
Before his triple winning effort Broberg was ranked a lowly 1,4o1st in the world and he will tee up this week lying 169th and ahead of the likes of former U.S. Open champion, Lucas Glover (176th), former double Major winning John Daly, (189th) and double PGA Tour winning Camilo Villegas (197th) and 2010 European Ryder Cup winning star, Edoardo Molinari (205th).
He and his caddy, Jamie arrived in Scotland last Wednesday and they’ve been based in Crail.
They began their preparations for this week’s event firstly taking to the Craighhead course at Crail Golfing Society, and the seventh oldest golf club in the world that was instituted in 1786.
Renowned Gil Hanse designed the Craighead course and he also designed Castle Stuart and more recently was appointed to design the 2016 Olympic Games host venue in Rio de Janeiro.
Broberg has also played practice rounds at St. Andrews Bay, Carnoustie and Ladybank.
The Swede commenced his Alfred Dunhill Links campaign teeing up on the Kingsbarns course.
