Alfred Dunhill Links Organisers Extend Invitations To Tartan Trio Including Excited Forsyth.

Organisers of next month’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship have listened to a call from Scotland’s leading newspaper, The Daily Record, and in an article written by Bernie McGuire for last Tuesday’s edition, to extend invitations to a trio of Tartan players – Alastair Forsyth, Craig Lee and Gary Orr.

It means Forsyth, Lee and Orr now get the chance to tee up in the $US 5m event commencing on October 4th and with the opportunity of trying to secure their European Tour card for 2013.

Forsyth is currently ranked 124th on the Race to Dubai and still nine places shy of holding onto his card while Lee is just inside at 107th and Orr and 147th.

“Receiving an invitation to play the Alfred Dunhill is huge and I’m delighted,” said Forsyth.

“There was 20 invitations last year and while I didn’t get one I’m really pleased organisers have be kind to extend me an invitation this year.

“I’ve played on the Tour 11 to 12years, so I am thrilled as the Dunhill is a great event and it now presents me with the opportunity to play in Scotland and on three golf courses I know so well.

“It’s a great chance also of securing my Tour card for next year as hurting me this year there has been five events that have been cancelled and events that I would have qualified to tee up in.

“I was thinking of heading to the Challenge Tour but wheeling your own clubs on a trolley just doesn’t do it for me.  I just feel much more comfortable on the main tour.

“So I am thrilled organisers of the Alfred Dunhill Links have seen fit to afford me an invitation.”

It will mean now that Forsyth can forgo a 22,000 round trip to Australia later in October to compete in the inaugural Perth International and really the only event left this season on the schedule the Paisley pro will qualify automatically.”

The European Tour today released the names of all 25 invitations the the event that was first played in 2001.

Among those also extended invitations include exciting young Swedish player, Kristoffer Brouberg.

The Swede stunned the European Tour in winning three of five secondary Challenge Tour events to secure his full European Tour card for 2013.
