Greg Norman Hoping To Make It Third Time Lucky In Swiss Alps.

Greg Norman will be hoping to make it a third time lucky when he tees up in next week’s Omega European Masters in Switzerland.

Norman, now an ambassador for Omega, competed on the Crans-sur-Sierre course first in 1995 and then two years ago in 2010, and accompanied by his third wife.

However on both occasions the double British Open winning Norman missed the cut on the alpine course.

Norman’s appearance high in the Swiss Alps heralds Omega’s decision to extend its title partnership agreement with the co-sanctioned European and Asian Tour event through to 2017.

Commenting on the extended partnership, Omega President Stephen Urquhart said, “We are proud to sponsor such an esteemed and important tournament, and all of us at Omega look forward to having top players from around the world play golf in our beautiful home country.

Omega’s continued role as title sponsor of the European Masters further establishes our brand as a driving force in golf, which is also supported by our partnership with The PGA of America and the forthcoming Ryder Cup in the US.”

The tournament, steeped in history and tradition, is one ofthe leading events in the Swiss sporting calendar and is co-sanctioned by both the European and Asian tours.

Aside from Norman fellow Open Champions John Daly and Darren Clarke will compete on the Seve Ballesteros designed course along with  defending champion Thomas Björn, 2010 winner Miguel Angel Jiménez, European Ryder Cup captain Jose Maria Olazabal, former eight-time Euopean No. 1 and victorious 2012 Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie plus exciting Chinese sensation Andy Zhang, along with doulbe Asian Tour No. 1 Thongchai Jaidee.

The OMEGA European Masters will take place 30 August to 2September. Players compete for a title, trophy and red jacket in one of theworld’s most scenic and beautifully-situated golf courses.
