The Ireland pair of Stephanie Meadow and Leona Maguire have welcomed news the 2016 Curtis Cup will be staged at the Dun Laoghaire Club in Ireland.
Officials made the announement at the prize-giving ceremony and moments after GB & I stormed to victory in the 2012 Curtis Cup at Nairn.
“That’s great news for Ireland and Irish golf,” said Meadow who won her match to ensure GB & I regainged the Curtis Cup.
And Maguire, who despite being beaten 6 & 5, was also delighted with the annoucement.
“It’s going to be great for Ireland and Dua Laoghaire is a great selection.  It’s so close to Dublin and will ensure there’s a big crowd support.”
It will be only the second occasion since the inaugural Curtis Cup in 1932 that the biannual women’s amateur team event will be staged in Ireland.
The Killarney Golf and Fishing Club played host to the event in 1996 when GB & I won for a third straight occasion.
Dun Laoghaire (pronounced Dunleary) is located on the Irish east coast and some 11 kilometres south of the capital of Dublin.
