The European Tour in connection with the Royal Spanish Golf Federation used the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the European Tour and the centenary of the Spanish Open to launch a Spanish version on the European Tour website.
es.europeantour.com now joins English, German and French as the fourth ‘pillar’ language to provide live scoring, statistics, video and radio interviews from European Tour events.

Present at the launch in the Media Centre at the Spanish Open in Seville was Gonzaga Escauriaza, President of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation, Mark Lichtenhein, European Tour’s Director of Broadcasting and New Media and Roddy Williams who heads the European Tour websites.
“It is very poignant time that we should launch es.europeantour.com on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the European Tour and the cententary of the Reale Seguros Open de Espana,” said Lichtenhiem.
“There is also so many Spanish born players competing on the Tour and of course, we have a Spanish born player who is the European Ryder Cup Captain.
“The European Tour is a worldwide tour and we are busy taking Europe to the world, so it is fitting to launch es.europeantour.com during such an historic week.”
Lichtenhiem indicated some 4 % of all visitors to www.europeantour.com are Spanish and that equates to over two million visitors to the website.
“We have now introduced three new languages to europeantour.com in the past six months so along with English, German and French we now have Spanish and the four pillar languages in the world,” said Lichentiem.
“Chinese is now very high on our agenda and as the European Tour now competes in Morocco we are thinking of adding Arabic.”
