Czech Open Cancelled Due To Funding Shortfall

The 2012 Czech Open has been cancelled due to a funding shortfall.

www.golfbtourmiss.com reported earlier this week the European Tour was meeting with Stanislav Pros in London on Thursday with the likelihood the event was not going ahead this year as planned for August 16th to 19th.

And now in a statement released by organisers today it’s confirmed what was feared by the Tour.

However organisers indicated they still hope to stage the tournament next year for at least three consecutive years.

It will be the first time since 1997 the tournament will not take place and it is also third European Tour event canceled in 2012 because of financial difficulties.

The other events not going ahead are the Majorca Open and the Castellon Masters, and both in Spain.
