McIlroy Confident New Swing Changes Will ‘Kick-In’ Ahead Of Augusta.

Rory McIlroy heads to the States next Monday confident changes introduced into his swing will have kicked in well before he heads to April’s U.S. Masters

The now World No. 3 was courtside in Doha yesterday (MON) supporting World No. 4 girlfriend, Carolina Wozinacki who is contesting this weeks’ Qatar Open.

McIlroy and Lee Westwood traded places for a fourth time since last November with Westwood back to No. 2 in the world after sharing second in Dubai.

While Westwood let slip victory, McIlroy is now No.3 also after a disappointing fifth after being tied for the lead with two rounds to play.

Having played two events on this year’s ‘Desert Swing’ and along with practice this week on the desert Doha Club course, McIlroy’s next event is also in the desert.

He will arrive in Arizona next Monday night to lead the Irish ahead the first big showdown of the year, the WGC – Accenture Match Play Championship.

“The practice facilities at the Doha Club are really good so I’ll spend a bit of time out there on the range during the week, and hopefully not get the weather they got the other week for the Qatar Masters,” he said.

“But looking back on my two weeks in Abu Dhabi and Dubai they have been very positive and I usually always start off the New Year pretty well.

“I feel like I have taken big strides this year in my game and in the way I am swinging the club and in my consistency, as well.

“So I’ve had a second and now a fifth, and even if you don’t have great weeks but then you still managed top-fives that’s not a bad thing.

“I still feel it’s going to take a couple more weeks to fully click in and that if feels completely comfortable but it’s definitely on the right track.

“Hopefully, there will be a day when it all clicks and it comes easy to me.

“As for the time being, I have still have plenty of swing thoughts I am thinking about out on the golf course.”

And McIlroy was very confident is stating:  “I should be well and truly ready for Augusta.”
