‘Super dad’ golfer Peter Lawrie is over the moon after his wife, Philippa gave birth to the couple’s first son.

The former Spanish Open winner already has three girls and all under the age of seven so he’s delighted with another male in the family.

“I’m just so excited and it’s great to finally have a son,” he said.

“Mother and son are doing really well so thanks to everyone for their support and good wishes.”

Lawrie had been on standby during last week’s BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth but when he missed the cut in the European Tour flagship event and also pulled out from Monday’s US Open qualifying at Walton Heath as well as the Wales Open to be with his wife.

Now that the baby has been born he’s also withdrawn from Monday’s 36-hole British Open qualifer at Sunningdale as well as next week’s BMW Italian Open in Turin.

And Lawrie won’t return to competition to the June 23rd starting BMW International Open in Munich where the father of four is sure to be handing out the cigars .
