Great news for Scot David Drysdale superbly securing his best finish of a new career season with a share of third in the Asian Tour’s Mercuris Taiwan Masters.
Drysdale posted a final round one-under 71 that included three birdies over his closing six holes for an eventual one-under-par tally on a tough Taiwan Country Club course.
South African Jaco Ahlers closed with a 69 to win by two shots at four-under.

The toughness of the host course was reflected in that just four players finished under par for the four rounds, and one being Drysdale who tied third with Aussie Travis Smyth.
Drysdale’s effort for the golfer affectionately known as ‘Double-D’ is a second top-10 of his rookie season, and also seen him importantly jump to 46th on the Asian Tour Order of Merit.
Drysdale, and with wife Vicky calling the shots, also assured himself a biggest season pay cheque of a cool $US 60,000.
He had been placed in tie for sixth after the opening day but moved-up to fifth thanks to a second round 72 though a ‘moving day’ 74 saw Drysdale drop back to a tie for ninth at level par.
Sunday dawned with Dysdale not getting the start he sought in dropping two shots over his opening three holes but the proud Scot dug deep to fight his way back up the leaderboard, thanks to his strong six-hole finish, and be rewarded with a tie for third.
“It was a difficult day, lots of bogeys, lots of birdies, on a very difficult golf course but then I really enjoyed the challenge this week,” said Drysdale.’
“The course is a cross between Valderrama and a US Open venue. It’s so easy to make mistakes.
“I had a good finish today, like yesterday, so I am pleased with that because I think yesterday I was 5-over but had three birdies in the last six.
“Then today I was a couple over but had three birdies in the last half dozen.
“I have enjoyed these past two weeks in Taiwan, it has been very hot for a Scotsman, but all in all enjoyed both golf course. I look forward to coming back hopefully in the future. Looking forward to next week in Singapore.”
As mentioned, Drysdale’s next event in Thursday’s International Series Sinagpore on the Tanah Merah course on the small island nation.
Joining next week’s $US 2m event is a host of LIV players including the major champions Graeme McDowell and Charl Schwartzel.
