A New Superstar Stands Tall On Swiss Alps As Aberg Brilliantly Captures Omega European Masters

There’s a new European golfing superstar in Ludvig Aberg with the 23-year-old Swede brilliantly standing tall among the towering snow-capped Swiss Alps in capturing the Omega European Masters,

Aberg birdied four of his closing five holes in a closing score of a six-under 64 and win a maiden DP World Tour victory by two shots at 19-under-par on the host Crans-sur-Sierre course.

As well, Aberg’s enormous effort that could see him earn one of Donald’s picks with thfe European captain names his full 12-man team at 2pm UK time on Monday.

Aberg stormed past a struggling final round Matt Fitzpatrick, denying the Englishman the joy of joining Seve Ballesteros as a three-time Swiss winner, in posting a closing 64 to win by two shots at 19-under on the host Crans-sur-Sierre course.

Fellow Swede Alexander Bjork was runner-up at 17-under and with Fitzpatrick, in signing for a 69, sharing third with Scotland’s Connor Syme (67).

Afterwars Aberg was asked what he thought of his Ryder Cup chances of earning a Rome wildcard pick

“I thought I needed to win this week to have any chance of a pick, so it was great to finish well and win the tournament which is fantastic I did”, he said.

“It would mean the world if I was now chosen. For anyone, as a young golfer growing-up in Sweden and Europe, those are the tournaments you want to be a part of.

“If I do get that chance I would be over the moon. It would be really cool”.
