Migliozzi Wins French Open With Stunning 62 To Stamp His Rome Ryder Cup Credentials.

Italian golfing stallion Guido Migliozzi sensationally sounded his Rome Ryder Cup credentials with a stunning equal course record 62 to capture the 104th Cazoo French Open title.

Migliozzi, 25, seized 10 birdies and none better than a stunning near 200-yard second shot over water into the last to set-up his six-foot winning birdie, celebrating the putt with a massive right fist pump, and a third Tour title by a shot at 15-under par.

He said: “I am just feeling an explosin of feelings.  I felt very comportable with my game.  I love to play golf and I love to battle on the golf course and I received back a great reward today.”

“I was not nervous.  It was a beautful day for a round of golf. It was great.  I was trying to be more comfortable on the course and at the start of the weekend I was 13 shots back but yesterday Rasmus missed the second hole and it almost opened the door again and I just kept playing great.

“So, to win is great as my main goal at the start of the season was to keep my card for next year.  I was not playing that great but then I changed something in my equipment and witt the help of Callaway.  They have been with me in providing all my clubs.  With their help I started playing better and I found I was getting more comfortable on the golf course.”

On that approach to 18 he added: “The shot was something incredible. I went for it and it paid off. My caddie was not happy: it was not the real strategy but I felt I could try.”

Victory lifts the Italian from 100th on the Race to Dubai and now to 21st, and the assurance of locking-in his Tour card at least to the end of the 2024 season.

Dane Rasmus Hojgaard, who led from day one and included dropping seven shots at the second and third holes on day three, played the same two holes in three-under on day four to be runner-up signing for a 68 and a 15-under tally
