MacIntyre Singles Out The Shoes In Joining Exclusive Nike Stable With Forrest Delighted

Bob MacIntyre has joined the exclusive Nike stable of top golfers and fellow Scot and management stablemate Grant Forrest couldn’t be happier.

MacIntyre emerged from the Christmas festive break and into a fourth pro season wearing the Nike ‘swoosh’ logo on his shirts and also with Nike pants and shorts, that he’s added to Nike golf shoes he’s been wearing for some time.

It’s see’s the top-ranked Scot now sporting the same attire as Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka, Jason Day and Francesco Molinari.

MacIntyre said: “I’ve always worn Nike shoes and have done so for a couple of years now and it was managers who worked out the deal with the shirts.

“Probably, it was the shoes that helped as I was having feet problems when I first came onto the Tour but not since I moved to Nike golf shoes

“Nike is a good stable to be in and I’ve had some nice messages from a few welcoming me into the Nike team.  It has meant fewer sponsors on my shirt but I am just looking forward to having a good year”.

And the only changes in MacIntyre’s bag is a new 3-wood and 5-wood however MacIntyre’s lucrative deal does not entail a cap as he continues to sport a TaylorMade logoed cap along with a similar endorsed bag and ball.

Signing with Nike has meant MacIntyre losing all but one other logo of his shirt and that’s an Arnold Clark logo on his right sleeve.

It’s why Forrest is happy as he’s inherited two of MacIntyre’s sponsors and the logo now appears, along with a half-a-dozen other sponsors, on the shirt of the Craigielaw star

Forrest said: “Bob and I are in the same management group, so with him now being sponsored by Nike, he’s not allowed to have sponsor logos on his shirts, I have inherited two of his sponsors which are great for me.

“And no, I won’t be wearing Bob’s old shirts (smiling)”

Forrest, 28, is heading into a fifth full year as a pro and a fourth start season on the main DP World Tour.

He said: “I was excited this week to get going and it’s another big season for me while I’ve got a pretty decent schedule ahead of me.

“There is a couple of new destinations on the schedule, including Japan, so hopefully they will go ahead, as I played the World Amateur in Japan along with a college event, as well

“There are also two big weeks in Scotland with the Scottish Open and the 150th Open, and while I’m into the Scottish, it’s a big goal also to be playing at St. Andrews.  Everyone will be looking to play St. Andrews as it’s just going to be even extra special than normal being the 150th Open.

“I also have the defence of my Hero Open title, so very much looking forward to that in St. Andrews, and two weeks after The Open”.
