Shane Lowry Celebrates St. Patrick’s Day With His Best Score Of The Season.

Shane Lowry got decked out in green and celebrated St. Patrick’s Day with his lowest round this season on day three of the Andalucian Open.

Lowry ignited the celebratory fireworks in three hole stretch early on from the second hole where the former Irish Open winner went birdie, eagle and birdie.

The Irishman’s eventual score of a five under par 67 for a six under par total is a stroke better than a previous low this year of 68 in his first round of his first event this year in Abu Dhabi.

Since then Lowry has failed to break 70 in nine rounds including earlier scores this week of 71 and 72.

Lowry kick-started his round when he drilled a sand-wedge to four feet at the par four second, holed a 110-yard sand-wedge for eagle and then holed an eight-footer at the fourth.

“It was a great start but it’s a bit disappointing as I only birdied one of the four par fives,” he said.

“So it could have easily been better.

“This is my first event in a month as I didn’t go to India, so I’ve been at home just hitting balls but I’ve got a run of events now which is good.

“I’m playing these three and then taking two weeks off and then three weeks on out in the Far East and that brings me up to Wentworth.

“The game feels good so I am happy enough, and it’s a course that really suits my game as I only the driver three times today.”

Waiting for Lowry at the end of her round was girlfriend, Grainne and wearing an emerald green badge saying:  “Kiss me.  I’m Irish.”

And when asked if he was going to celebrate Ireland’s national day, the Esker Hills golfer smartly replied:  “No, definitely not.”

Lowry heads to the final round at six under par and in a share of 27th place and six behind Spain’s Eduardo De la Riva who heads the event at 12-under par.
