We all know it was a basketball called ‘Wilson’ that kept Tom Hanks sane on a uninhabited Pacific Ocean island in the blockbuster movie, CastAway.
Now we’re not saying 2020 European Ryder Cup captain is going insane, not for a moment but no sooner had Harrington announced his first vice-captain and the Dubliner unveiled what could be the team mascot – ‘Wilson’ a cute-looking puppy.
It is the now 48-year old Dubliner’s first dog and it seemed only appropriate he should name it Wilson after his long-time equipment sponsor.
Harrington took to Twitter to introduce ‘Wilson’ to his 123,300 followers:-
Birdied the last to make the cut @BMWPGA @EuropeanTour but it wasn’t the best thing that happened today. Meet “Wilson” who arrived today. First ever dog for me. pic.twitter.com/oOh1rTT4sH

It’s not sure if Wilson will travel to Whistling Straits later next year but at least at this very earlier stage of team qualifying the young puppy is clearly the cutest presently in Harrington’s backroom team.
