Severe Storm Creates Havoc & Delay To Masters Practice

A severe overnight electrical storm had Augusta National staff working overtime to clear the debris of fallen trees and leaves from the Masters host venue.

The storm hit the Augusta region late on Monday night bringing down power lines and trees.

One of the many stately trees on Magnolia Lane came crashing down with a portion of the tree falling on the roadway.

Gates closed to public because of storm damage

Greens staff took to the fallen tree with chain saws while all about the course other greens staff were busy ridding the course of leaves and branches to get the course back to it’s cathedral like setting.

The storm meant a delay to the 8am opening of turnstiles while the competitors were also stopped from taking to the course.

The delay in opening the gates allowed me to get a snap of one of the best scenes in golf – standing on the lawn in front of the stately Georgian clubhouse.
