Russell Knox Struggling With Mystery Virus Ahead Of The Memorial.

Dublin, Ohio …

Struggling Russell Knox is confident of overcoming a mystery virus and being fit to take his place in today’s commencing Memorial in Dublin, Ohio.

Knox returned to the States after contesting last week’s BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth but having contracted the “bug” from his wife, Andrea.

“Andrea has been really sick for about three weeks and I think I have managed to contract part of it, as well,” he said after contesting Wednesday’s Pro-Am in the Jack Nicklaus-hosted event at Muirfield Village.

“I struggled out there today in the Pro-Am and just feel awful now, so I am going back to the hotel and just chill out.

“Hopefully, it is only a 24-hour thing and I think I should be fine for tomorrow”.

And Knox has welcomed the appointment of Swede Robert Karlsson as European Ryder Cup Captain, Thomas Bjorn’s first Paris vice-captain.

“I heard that news today and it does not surprise me as Robert was paired last week with Bjorn and past Captain Darren Clarke for the opening two rounds at Wentworth”, said the Scot.

“I do not know Robert all that well but reading his credentials he certainly ticks a lot of boxes and I’m sure he will be great for the team”.

Knox tees up in the opening round of the Memorial at 5.43pm UK time.
