Thomas Bjorn Finds Golf Very Easy After A 65 In Portugal Masters

At present, Thomas Bjorn finds golf very easy.

The 40-year old Dane has won three times this year including the back-to-back Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles and the Omega European Masters.

Earlier this year he captured the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters in Doha.

Now Bjorn has again put himself into contention to capture the Portugal Masters after a seven under par 65 on the first day of the event at Villamours.

Bjorn didn’t drop a shot in glorious conditions on the Algarve.

“Golf is never ever an easy game but at the moment I am finding it very easy,” he said.

“And even when I don’t play particularly well I seem to always get a decent score out of it.  That’s the thing when you do play a poor shot you always seem to hit it into the right place.

“That’s the way golf it but then it can all change as we know.

“And I’m one who has too much respect for this game knowing that it can change.”

Bjorn this year has made a habit of winning tournaments where the four round tournament score is very low.

In winning last year’s Estoril Open de Portugal, Bjorn won with a 23-under par total.  In Doha earlier this year, he succeeded with a 14-under tally.

Bjorn then won at Gleneagles in a five-man play-off with a score of 11-under and then headed high into the Alps to climb the summit with a 20-under par victory.

And with success comes confidence.

“I’m not overly confident but I am feeling very comfortable on the golf course but then this also is not the best I felt I have played,” Bjorn added.

“There were periods in 2001 and 2001 when I felt I played better and played some really good golf and I don’t think I’ve got back to that level yet.

“But while I am enjoying my golf at present, I know I can enjoy it a lot more when I get back to that level I was a decade ago.
