“I was starting to get recognised in and around Dallas and Austin, at dinners and wherever I was out, but now it kind of happens everywhere,” he said.

“I guess people are paying more attention to me, so you’ve got to find secret passageways and when you go to restaurants, you’re finding corner booths.

“At the same time it’s not negative, and it’s something that’s really cool, and it’s a great problem to have.

“But if you want a quiet dinner, you better bring it home to your house.”

And there will be no hiding when Spieth tees off later today (THURS) alongside World  No. 1 Rory McIlroy and Open Champion Zach Johnson.

A third Major success this year would not only send Spieth to No. 1 in the world but would give the Americans the first clean sweep of the four Majors since 1982.
