Jordan Spieth Surprised & Says It’s Weird WGCs Don’t Have Category For Tiger Woods.

World No. 2 Jordan Spieth is not one known for controversy.

However the game’s hottest golfer and winner of two of the three Majors in 2015 has expressed his surprise there is no World Golf Championship category for Tiger Woods – a winner of eight WGC – Bridgestone Invitational crowns.

Woods has won eight of the 16 Bridgestone events but at 262nd on the World Rankings and not having won a WGC counting tournament in the past 12 months there is no place for Tiger Woods not here this week in suburban Akron or ealier this year at the WGC – Cadillac Match-Play Championship or in the WGC – Cadillac Championship at Trump Doral.

“It is weird there is not a category for Tiger,” said Spieth agreeing to my question and who is contesting just his second WGC – Bridgestone title.

“I am surprised given the WGCs has more impact on the World Rankings as the FedEx Cup has more impact in general that there isn’t some form of category for past champions as there is in the Majors.

“Not even that it’s just this WGC specifically but then a certain amount of them or whatever so yes, I am surprised.”

Jordan Spieth agrees it's weird that Tiger Woods, and a winner of eight WGC - Bridgestone Invitational titles, is not competing this week.
