Rory McIlroy Signs Multi-Million Dollar Deal With ‘Santander’.

Reigning U.S. Open champion, Rory McIlroy has signed a multi-million dollar deal with Santander Bank.

The deal was annouced on Tuesday at a lavish media function at Wembley Stadium in London.

www.golfbytourmiss.com picked up strong rumours last week in France that McIlroy was set to sign with a new deal so it’s not surprising news that the Spanish banking giant has managed to sign McIlroy.

The bank is ranked fifth largest on the UK high street.

Strangely, the announcement comes after McIlroy’s ISM manager, Andrew ‘Chubby’ Chandler indicated soon after McIlroy’s U.S. Open success that the company had been approached to ‘wipe clean’ the logos McIlroy was carrying on his attire.

It means that McIlroy now has as many as half-a-dozen different sponsors on his shirts.

McIlroy is now looking more the likes of fellow Santander backed sportsman in F1 World Champions, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button.

McIlroy will carry the Spanish bank logo of the left sleeve of all the shirts he wears.

McIlroy put his signature to a deal today (Thur) and with Santander no doubt seeing McIllroy as an ideal person to promote their brand, and to underline that, they’ve offered the golf star a multi-million pound contract which his management is understood to have accepted.

The eight-figure deal will see Santander UK’s name appear on the 22-year-old’s clothing, and McIlroy will also front a forthcoming TV ad campaign for the banking giants.

Santander’s other sporting ambassadors include Formula One drivers Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton.

The deal is believed to have been brokered by Santander UK chief executive Ana Botin, who was the Spanish junior champion ladies golfer in 1973 and 1974.

McIlroy’s commanding Congressional performance in June has put him on course to be one of the wealthiest U.K. sports stars.

And his worldwide profile has also been heightened by his blossoming relationship with Danish-born girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki, and current World No. 1.
